Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some of the questions we get about our remodeling services.
Do you charge for estimates?
No, our estimates are free. We will provide a complete, thorough written estimate, based on an on-site evaluation of the project.
How many estimates should I get for my project?
Many people recommend you get at least three estimates. This is especially true if you have no personal experience with any of the contractors you’re considering. If, however, a contractor is recommended by a friend, and you are familiar with the company’s work, you may only need one estimate. Make sure you get written estimates that accurately define the scope of the project.
Why do prices vary so much on estimates?
Many factors determine the price: the size of the project, the amount of work done by the contractor, the quality of work and supplies, the expertise and certification of the contractor, and more.
What questions should I ask a contractor whom I’m considering for a project?
Ask as many questions as you need to feel confident in your decision to hire the contractor. “How long have you been in business?” “Have you ever done a project like mine before?” “Do you have insurance?” “Do you require a down payment?” “Who does the work: you, your employees, or subcontractors?” “How long will my project take?” “Do you have references?”
What is a change order?
A change order is a written statement, signed by the customer, authorizing the contractor to do additional work not included in the original contract. A change order may also be written when a contractor encounters unforeseen damage or problems with the job.
